Environmental Monitoring
Noise, dust, vibration, water; we monitor them all, and more; both on and off site. Why? Well, firstly, because we have to it's a part of our operating consent conditions. But also because if we regularly monitor all of our activity we can more easily and more quickly respond to any potential issue. That's just good business sense and good operating procedure. For example, there's no point using more chemicals in the gold extraction process than we need to. Our regular monitoring keeps us up to date and can provide operating economies. As another example, every time we blast at Martha or Favona, the results are immediately available to us and to regulatory authorities. That means we can make adjustments to the next blast if we need to. Our Blast Hub system records all the data for analysis.
We set all our internal environmental trigger levels below the consent levels we are legally required to comply with. That gives us a 'heads up' and keeps us on our toes. We think working right in the community of Waihi keeps us on our toes too, and welcome the feedback we get.
